Master’s in Child Development and Educational Psychology

The proper mental, emotional and social development of children is one of the most important issues of our time. It is now understood that it does not occur “automatically” simply because a child is growing up. While, in the past, the status of child psychologist was associated with mental disorders, today it is recognized that it concerns all children. Thus, child psychology has expanded and deepened its field of research, creating specializations and special directions.

The MSc in Child Development and Educational Psychology program, offered by the BCA in collaboration with the University of West London, has two pathways: Child Development and Educational Psychology. It provides a solid basis for the application of psychological theory in educational settings, analyzing the mechanisms by which the child’s personality is structured, individual differences, the learning process, behavioral and emotional difficulties. It is addressed to graduates of schools with the theme of psychology, education, special education, welfare services, who wish to upgrade their knowledge and skills.

Graduates can pursue careers as professional child psychologists, as developmental and mental health counselors, and as education specialists (educational psychologists, school psychologists). They can work with children and families, in general or in special categories (eg gifted students, special education students, vulnerable, students at risk), at school or in the community, or with government agencies at the policy-making level. They can also work in companies engaged in the development of educational material, as study planners and as researchers.
