The master’s degree of large financial figures

The LLM Maritime Law is a postgraduate program in Maritime and Maritime Law, with a special emphasis on legal issues faced by maritime, shipping and maritime companies in their day-to-day operations.

Addressed to:

a) to law school graduates who want to acquire specialized knowledge in maritime trade, navigation and shipping in general.
b) to professionals in the field of shipping who seek to supplement their knowledge by acquiring a broad legal background in business matters in their field of work.

Finally, the course trains postgraduate students to undertake legal research and analysis, a skill that will be reflected in the dissertation they will prepare, as a core course, on an important legal issue.

The program consists of 6 sections, plus the Research and Dissertation section which is the most important. Each module participates in the final score with 20 credits with the exception of the Research and Dissertation module which participates with 60 credits.

The modules offered are: International Commercial Law, Maritime Law, Maritime Insurance, Alternative Dispute Resolution, Sea Freight Transportation, International Shipping Company, Tax Law and Research and Thesis Methods.

LLM Maritime Law is based on current English law. It also includes a preparatory section entitled General Principles of English Law. The purpose of this module is to provide an adequate background on the general principles of English law so that students from other countries can adapt quickly to the course.

Delivery method
Each module is delivered in one semester. All modules are delivered through a seminar / lecture / workshop lasting 4 hours per week for 10 weeks.

Place of Study
Participants can take advantage of the opportunity to study maritime law in the largest and most successful shipping cluster in the world, Athens / Piraeus in Greece.

Attendance flexibility
There is the possibility of online or live delivery. There is a special tradition for online students, so that they can combine their studies with their other obligations. They have access to the course material, regardless of location, time zone and availability. The online material includes videos with lectures and “live” training sessions for interaction.

Full-time and part-time program
They also differ in their duration and the weekly schedule. However both programs lead to the same postgraduate degree and have the same tuition.

Entrance to the spring semester
Candidates can start their studies from the spring semester.

Entry Requirements

Applicants can be admitted to the course as long as they possess:

  • a second class honours degree from a UK University, or
  • a Ptychion of 6.0 and above from  an AEI University or
  • a Ptychion of 7.0 and above from a TEI University, or
  • a Bachelor from an American University with GPA 2.75 and above or equivalent qualification.

Applicants are also required to submit one of the following certifications:

  • IELTS: a minimum score of 6.5 (with a minimum score of 5.5 in each component of the test)
  • Cambridge English: Proficiency (CPE): Pass at C1 level
  • Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE): C and above
  • Cambridge English: First (FCE): B and above
  • Examination for the Certificate of Proficiency in English (ECPE): P( Pass) and above
  • Pearson Academic (PTE): 53 (with a minimum score of 51 in each component of the test)
  • BCA IELTS Placement Test: a minimum score of 6.5 (with a minimum score of 5.5 in each component of the test)
  • Other English language qualifications may be considered.

Intensive English classes are provided to those students who do not meet the English requirements.

Δρ. Ζωή Αναγνωστίδου

H Δρ. Ζωή Αναγνωστίδου αποφοίτησε από το Τμήμα Οικονομικών Επιστημών του Πανεπιστημίου Θεσσαλίας το 2004. Στη συνέχεια, πραγματοποίησε μεταπτυχιακές σπουδές στο Πανεπιστήμιο του Bath (UK) με αντικείμενο το Μάνατζμεντ, και εκπόνησε τη διδακτορική της διατριβή στο Οικονομικό Πανεπιστήμιο Αθηνών (Tμήμα Μάρκετινγκ και Επικοινωνίας)

στο πεδίο της Συμπεριφοράς Καταναλωτή. Από το 2008 διδάσκει μαθήματα μάρκετινγκ και επικοινωνίας και έχει παράλληλα εργαστεί ως ανεξάρτητη ερευνήτρια και σύμβουλος πάνω σε διάφορα project. Τα τρέχοντα ερευνητικά της ενδιαφέροντα εστιάζουν στη συμπεριφορά και ψυχολογία του καταναλωτή και την εταιρική κοινωνική ευθύνη.​

All postgraduate programmes, in addition to the Master’s degree, also offer intermediate –supplementary postgraduate awards, such as the Postgraduate Certificate and the Postgraduate Diploma. These postgraduate titles, which can also be obtained with a degree or honors, are awarded to those students who have completed a part of the postgraduate course.
