Φάνης Ματσόπουλος

Fanis Matsopoulos

Fanis Matsopoulos was born in Athens. He has graduated from the American College of Greece – Pierce College. He holds a Bachelor degree in Business Administration from the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB) and also a Master degree in Shipping from Piraeus University. His dissertation had as thesis “The global coal and iron ore market and an econometric model that predicts the fluctuations of Baltic Capesize Index” and it is considered the base of a presentation in a scientific conference. He is a certified shipbroker by the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers based in London with honors in Shipping Finance.

He has worked as an analyst for several financial institutions. From 2012 to 2015 he was appointed as the Director of DCC Group’s Trading Department and was responsible for the control of trading activities of dry bulk cargoes, their transportation via sea, hedging and chartering. Since 2015 he is the CEO of the company Universal Carriers SA which operates in the international transportation and chartering sector, providing services to Greek and international trading houses.

He is an elected member of the board of Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry since 2017 and a member of the board of the Rafina Port Authority since 2019. He is a regular columnist in the weekly business newspaper Deal and Forbes International Magazine. He teaches Sales and Purchase at BCA since 2019 in Bachelor and Master level.
