Sustainable and Innovative Tourism Management

Module Content:

Students will be firstly introduced to the concept and the practice of a sustainability strategy for the tourism industry. The following topics will be examined:

• The impact of sustainability and the climate change on the operations of a tourism product
• Issues arising during the implementation of a sustainability strategy which can endanger of promote the tourism product (greenwashing etc)

The topic of the legal and voluntary frameworks will be explored, connecting them to the available financial tools of the Green Deal to support the sustainable transition of the tourism companies.

An analysis of the National Plan on the Tourism Sustainable development will be introduced, to make the students comprehend the linkage between the local industries and the national sustainable tourism purpose.
