How to climb up your career ladder

Finding the job you love, is the first step towards your career success! The second step is to improve your career path and develop so as to grow! Stay out of your comfort zone and keep the mindset of evolving that can lead you to a motivating career and opportunities for new experiences.

Creating a plan so as to climb the career ladder requires the following steps:

Set your career goals

Be honest with yourself and write down your career goals. Search and clarify what motivates you to excel and leads you towards performing the best of yourself. It is very important to find out your career advancement goals and talk about them to the management team. How do you imagine yourself within the next five years from now? Find out your short-term, mid-term and long-terms goals and write them down!

Communicate your goals to the corporate management team

It is beneficial that you share your career goals with the management team so that they know about your short and long-term goals and finally assist you in the planning of your career development. How you imagine yourself within the business team is a point that you can talk about when they ask you during the interview about “how you imagine yourself within the next 5 years from now?” or when they ask you a similar question during the employee evaluation process.

Continue your learning

A factor that can boost your career is continuous learning. If you have the mindset that you have the responsibility of your own success, then you are on the right track. Devote energy and time to upgrade your skills and knowledge through trainings, webinars and workshops that can really level up your educational background!

Keep positive and energetic on a daily basis

Remember that your mental and physical state are very important for your career success! Keep focused on your self-motivation and self-confidence. Search for opportunities to demonstrate your honesty and integrity so as to feel happy and satisfied. Also, consider exercising on a regular basis so as to increase your levels of energy.

Request new tasks

Ask your supervisor more challenging tasks and projects if you feel that you follow a permanent daily routine job schedule. Challenge yourself to work in new tasks and express that your productivity increases by undertaking new challenging tasks. Of course, continue working on permanent tasks that you are asked, and stay committed to them.

Join team projects

Joining team projects can allow you broaden your mindset, develop your skills, interact and meet new people within your company. You can learn from such an interaction, the difficulties you may meet and the successes that will emerge! It is certain that you will develop your professionalism and learn how to communicate with others the best way for the maximum result!

Seek for mentors

Seek guidance from a mentor that you choose so that you share your thoughts, worries or plans for your career development. Your mentor may be a professional who has had similar goals with yours and that has succeeded what you pursue to succeed. Remember to be selective when choosing your mentor and select a person that you feel respect and can connect with to make a trustworthy relationship of guidance and support.

Volunteer

Becoming a volunteer gives a purpose and provides a sense of community. Offering through such a role certainly enhances personality and offers self-confidence as well as self-esteem. Acting as a volunteer also helps you think in a broad way and adds value to your skills.

Consider internal job openings

Keep in mind that career opportunities may come up within your company, thus consider the internal job openings that you may be fit for. Contact the HR Department so as to be properly informed while also express your interest to your supervisor so as to consider you for such a job shift either horizontally or vertically.
