Oil, Energy and Commodity Economics

The aim of the module is to introduce the students to the main elements in the commodity business. The module helps students understand the economics of key commodity groups, including energy, agriculture and metals.
It examines the supply/demand fundamentals of several major and minor commodities, and their physical characteristics, production and consumption patterns, trade flows and pricing mechanisms.
It also offers a review of the main tools used to hedge price risk, such as futures, options and swaps.
Finally, it summarizes both the theoretical and the applied knowledge pertaining to commodities trading.
