This module focuses on observation methods and communication skills as a means for effective teaching, assessment and collaboration with children and their families. Children in early childhood programs have different needs, strengths, experiences, and primary languages. The module demonstrates a system of ongoing child observation (and the various methods of observation in the literature) and appropriate communication with children and their families that will allow educators of young children to tailor instruction to the needs of each child, thus encouraging the early development and learning needed for school success.
