The module provides students with an understanding of Marine Insurance Acts, clauses and rules applied and used to explain legal complications of cases arising in practice. It also provides students with knowledge of the Marine Insurance principles that apply to the cases examined.
Additionally, it gives special emphasis to the analysis of the Institute Hull, Cargo and Freight clauses and to the problems of interpretation to which these clauses have given rise in their everyday application.
Moreover, it provides students with the necessary knowledge to understand Marine Losses and related measure of indemnity, to know how Institute Clauses and York-Antwerp Rules work in practice, and deal in a satisfactory manner with legal issues arising from application of these clauses and rules.
