The module will explore major leadership theories and tactics, also focusing on typical tactics leaders utilise, cases of implemented charismatic leadership, as well as personality traits associated with successful leaders. The organisational manifestation and use of power will also be a major focus, drawing on various major conceptualisations of social power, such as emphasising power as a resource, power stemming from outcome dependence, power as manipulation of identities, etc. A third axis of this module includes the link between power and politics. Conceptualisations of power politics, political tactics as well as the impact of employees’ perceptions of the manifestation of power politics within the organisation on important organisational variables (e.g. performance, motivation, etc.) will be the focus of discussion and the module’s culmination.
