International Tourism Industry and Hotel Operation Management

This module enhances students’ ability to examine and appraise the various types and the overall context and importance of the tourism and hospitality industry. Moreover, cultivate the necessary skills and competencies that would allow students to investigate, compare and critique the factors affecting tourism development, the hospitality industry’s distinctive characteristics, and the tourism industry’s current trends and challenges.

Also, organize, compare, contrast, and distinguish the different hotel types (i.e., boutique hotel, resort, etc.), the hotel classification and ranking scheme (i.e., hotel star rating system), the different types of hotel ownership, and the main divisions of hotel operation. Furthermore, provide an overall understanding of the various abbreviations used in the hospitality industry.

Finally, the students will be able to define, compare and distinguish the role, expectations, and impact of the various stakeholders.
